Apacer Launches Dual Voltage Reduced-Size MultiMediaCard

Today’s Low Voltage Solution Driving Tomorrow’s Low Power Mobile Devices

Apacer Technology Inc. is releasing a new Dual Voltage Reduced-Size MultiMediaCard (DV RS-MMC) series compliant with MMC specification version 3.X, allowing for compatibility with devices running on the conventional 3.0V as well as with the dual voltage 3.0/1.8V standard. The Apacer DV RS-MMC series’ low voltage design meets the market needs of today’s and tomorrow’s power conscious mobile devices. The dual voltage capability features plug-and-play compatibility with all mobile devices, allowing users to store video, images, music files and personal data up to 128 MB.

According to IDC, the shipping volume of mobile devices with card slots is experiencing a tremendous run-up and will exceed 246.8 million sets in 2005. “To enable higher performance, Apacer launches our DV RS-MMC series with the latest low power consumption technology to effectively reduce power usage and increase talk and standby time. Viewing the potential market offered by RS-MMC when applied to various multimedia applications, Apacer, through continuous technology breakthroughs and innovation, continues to develop smaller, faster, higher density, lower power consumption, best quality and performance flash products to meet the growing market demand for more efficient mobile storage.” said Elton Fang, Product Director of Apacer.

Apacer is watching the trends in portable devices, which are all getting smaller, lighter and more power efficient, and is manufacturing the DV RS-MMC series products to better support this market. Currently, Apacer’s DV RS-MMC series are available in capacities of 32 MB, 64 MB , and 128MB, which will be available to global retail markets in March 2005.
