Apacer Technology Inc. Passes Sony’s SS-00259 Certification Ahead of Competitors .
DDR400 and DDR2-533 modules pass RoHS accreditation

| Apacer Technology Inc. takes the initiative in responding to the rise of environmental awareness across the globe by implementing green processes for DRAM manufacturing. In addition to recently passing RoHS accreditation, Apacer’s DDR400 modules for notebooks and DDR2 533 modules for desktops also passed the stringent Sony Technical Standard SS-00259, part of the Sony Green Partner Program, for manufacturing and packaging materials. Apacer’s ongoing efforts to meet the most stringent environmental protections are being formally certified and recognized, with the ultimate goal of all Apacer products complying with the highest environmental protection standards in the industry. |

According to Grace Lo, DRAM Director of Apacer, both the EU and
Japan
have adopted new rules for electronics following the rise of environmental awareness across the globe, with several relevant issues highly publicized and promoted. For example, the RoHS directive announced by the EU in the beginning of 2003 will prohibit the use of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, PBB and PBDE hazardous substances in electronics from July 1, 2006. In the
US
, electronic manufacturers, the government, suppliers and academic institutions are sparing no effort in developing lead-free processes and materials for electronics manufacturing. The Japanese electronics industry has been even more aggressive by agreeing to use lead-free products by 2005. More importantly, environmental issues have become non-tariff trade barriers.

When using these new lead free processes, Apacer maintains strict quality control due to the different soldering material and temperatures of the PCB and SMT lines.
