Apacer Technology continues to be a leader in fully buffered DIMM technology and is collaborating with Intel, IDT and NEC on FB-DIMM development. By passing compatibility testing on leading manufacturers' systems, particularly with its excellent performance, Apacer positions itself well to meet the future demands of the growing OEM FB-DIMM market.  

The FB-DIMM module Apacer provided DDRII-533/DDRII-667 modules with capacities ranging from 512 MB to 2 GB. The biggest advantage of the product is its direct control over the module chips by means of point-to-point serial signals, designed partly to reduce the number of pins for signal transfer to 69 pins and partly to extensively reduce noise. Because FB-DIMM has a maximum theoretical bandwidth of 38.4 GB and a maximum capacity of 192 GB, it fulfills the scalability, broad bandwidth, high speed and high capacity needs of servers and workstations. FB-DIMM modules look nearly the same as conventional DDR and DDRII modules, except the AMB (advance memory buffer) at the center for protocol conversion is changed from a shared parallel interface to a point-to-point serial interface, needing only 69 pins (a conventional DDRII module needs 240 pins) to transfer data at 3.2 Gbps or greater.

According to an iSuppli survey, the estimated shipping quantity of OEM FB-DIMM will increase by 13% in 2006 and 40% in 2007, indicating the demand of high bandwidth, high speed and high capacity memory modules will experience substantial growth.
