Intel is currently focused on promoting the FB-DIMM as the next generation memory module, which may be applied on the Bensley high-end server platform. The Bensley platform is expected to store up to 192GB of data and support 38.4 GB/s in bandwidth. FB-DIMMs are the answer to enterprise and corporate demands for high-end server and workstations capable of handling high-volume and high-speed data processing, with enhanced efficiency and expandability.
The key differentiation of FB-DIMMs from registered DIMMs is the inclusion of an Advanced Memory Buffer chipset inside the module that transfers communication signals directly from point-to-point, while registered DIMMs send signals via a parallel structure. The point-to-point path saves on transmission time and greatly reduces noise output caused by high frequency transmits.
Apacer's mainstream FB-DIMM products are the DDR II 53 and DDR II 667, both are certified by Intel and have passed major platform tests of server and workstation makers. Ranging from 512MB~2GB in size, Apacer provides excellent after-sales support for its FB-DIMM solutions.
In promoting the new Bensley platform, Intel has initiated an Intel Channel Partner Program to provide its channels with technical support, marketing resources and communication platforms, with the goal of bringing more business opportunities. Apacer will be working closely with Intel to promote market growth for FB-DIMMs through this program.
