By c ollaborating with Intel, IDT and NEC on all aspects of Advanced Memory Buffer (AMB) technology, including the entire development and testing process, Apacer is the first Asian DRAM module maker certified by Intel's Platform Memory Operation (PMO). The FB-DIMM memory module is a perfect solution for the expansion and data transfer bandwidth constraints of DDR2 memory modules. FB-DIMMs look nearly the same as conventional DDR and DDRII modules, except they have an AMB (Advanced Memory Buffer) at the center. The biggest advantage of FB-DIMM is the direct control over the module chips by means of point-to-point serial signals, designed partly to reduce the number of pins for signal transfer to 69, extensively reduce noise and transfer data at 3.2 Gbps and higher, which is 4 times greater than the bandwidth for DDR2 server memory. FB-DIMM technology offers maximum capacity up to 192 GB – 6 channels, 8 DIMMs/ channel, 2 ranks/DIMM, 1 GB per second sustained data throughput per channel.
